Featured Guests: An Anniversary Getaway

Earlier this year, we hosted Mikayla Lee and her husband, Donni, at Getaway Hill Country outside of Austin for their anniversary. They spent the time disconnecting from the noise and reconnecting with each other. Here’s what Mikayla had to say about their experience

My husband and I chose Getaway to celebrate our anniversary! We wanted to disconnect without going too far from home, so Getaway’s location in Wimberly, TX was the perfect place with a unique stay and quiet scenery. The cabins are far enough apart, which made it feel private and secluded. The General Store is cute and has all the essentials you may have forgotten! There is even a walking trail if you want to get moving.

We loved the huge window next to the bed, waking up to the hill country view cuddled up with a book and coffee was one of our favorite things. Cooking on the fire was also so much fun, we had to find creative ways to make things. We made campfire pizza, which was a first, but a new favorite in our book. Of course, you cannot beat s’mores over the fire, either! We’re planning to try cinnamon rolls on the campfire on our next visit.

We spent all the extra free time reading, reconnecting as a couple without the distractions of the world, painting, looking through our wedding time capsule, and exploring! We made sure to bring our wedding book to look over and reminisce on our big day! We also brought canvases and paint to set aside some time to do things we never had time for at home.

The location is so central we were able to go to local Wimberley attractions, like Jacob’s Well. As we were leaving, we passed through central Wimberley and planned to make time to check out the shops on our next trip!

Having the time to reconnect with one another was so vital, and our favorite part. We felt we were able to re-center ourselves, remember why we got married in the first place. We were also able to reflect on our current life and talk more about our future goals and visions. We loved that the cabins included everything we needed to cook and enjoy our stay and nothing we did not need! We loved that there was a Bluetooth speaker and even a few games and books to check out.

For any couples thinking about going to Getaway house, I say do it!! Do not think twice, book the trip, pack minimally and enjoy the break from the demands of everyday life! We loved it so much we are already planning our next trip and telling all our friends about it! The Getaway house really allowed us the time to reconnect, and we cannot wait to go back with the pups this time!
