Meet an Artist Fellow: Musician, Rosemary Joaquin

At the end of last year we hosted musician, Rosemary Joaquin at Getaway Dale Hollow outside of Nashville along with a few of her friends. Here’s what she had to say about her music, her connection to nature, and her Getaway.

I am an indie pop artist from Washington, DC. My whole life I’ve loved to sing and at a young age noticed my androgynous voice brought a unique flair to anything I sang. With a passion for performing and creating I moved to Nashville in 2018 and have been working on honing my craft and building my brand ever since. This year I am releasing my first EP and the first single “Like Me Better” just came out Feb 25th.

As someone who is trying to make it as a music artist it can get extremely overwhelming. Being in nature has always been a way to calm the noise. When I was little I loved playing in the mud and getting my hands dirty. Nature brings out my child like spirit! Social media plays a huge part in the world of music, so having a moment away from all that sound was great. I went with a bunch of musicians, so we sang songs around the campfire, took long walks and looked at the stars.

It was fun performing my new single “Like me better” in the cabin. It gave the song a very cozy feeling. A lot of people use descriptive words like “cozy” when describing my voice so I felt like it was the perfect place.

You can follow Rosemary’s journey on both Instagram and Tik Tok.
