Featured Guests: A Winter Escape with Omotola Akinbiyi, Founder of Bon Femmes

Hello my beauties! Omotola Akinbiyi here, the proud founder of Bon Femmes (Instagram), a shop where art, homeware, accessories, and more are crafted with love by incredible women. So, grab a warm beverage as I spill about my recent adventure at the precious Getaway Barber Creek in Michigan.

As a small business owner, I’m constantly juggling multiple roles, wearing too many hats with each passing day. It’s a thrilling adventure, but sometimes the pace gets so frantic that I find myself in dire need of a pause button. Enter Getaway Barber Creek, my winter haven.

Nature is my happy place. When I step into the great outdoors, the hustle and bustle of everyday life fade away, and I’m left with a sense of peace. So, you can imagine the excitement when I packed my bag for this winter escape. This breather from the city was much needed. I brought a few Bon Femmes items with me for the ride over because that’s when the relaxation officially started:

Olivine Cutie Oil: Maintaining my manicure is strangely one of my favorite self-care rituals.

Catnip Magazine: It’s a magazine for cat people; need I explain more??

Lipy Pink Turtleneck Sweater: It’s easy to relax when you’re in your coziest outfit.

First things first, let’s talk stars. Living in the city means you’re lucky to spot some stars in the night sky. But at Getaway Barber Creek? Oh, it was a celestial extravaganza! The stars twinkled so brightly, and I was there, soaking it all in with a goofy grin plastered on my face. No light pollution, just me, the stars, and a universe of inspiration.

Now, my getaway wasn’t just about stargazing – I indulged in some good ol’ favorites. Reading? Check. Crafting? Double-check. The best part? No city noises to interrupt my zen. Just the occasional chirp of a distant critter – my kind of symphony. No TV either; the chatter of the real housewives did not distract me on this lovely day.

Oh, and let’s not forget about my furry friend, Charlie! That little ball of fluff probably enjoyed our Getaway Barber Creek escapade more than I did. Charlie, with her infectious enthusiasm, reveled in marching through the snow. The windows of our cozy cabin became her personal movie theatre, and she’d spend hours just staring out. It’s safe to say Charlie found her happy place.

As I packed my bag to leave Getaway Barber Creek, the feeling of relaxation that clung to me was undeniable, a gentle reminder of the rejuvenating power of nature. It’s like hitting the reset button – something every small business owner needs every once in a while.

So, here’s to more winter getaways, more mossy tree magic, and definitely more starlit serenades. Until next time, Barber Creek – stay magical!
