Walks in the Woods
Little Mountain Park Loop Distance: 4.8 mi Difficulty: medium Dogs allowed This loop trail through the forest in Little Mountain Park starts at the top of Little Mountain, and features viewpoints of Mount Baker, the Skagit Valley, the San Juan Islands, Olympic Mountains and even tulip fields.
Nature Trail, Cairn and Sidekick Loop Distance: 2.3 mi Difficulty: easy Dogs allowed This trail is a great hike for families or novice hikers, and promises a beautiful view once you’ve climbed to the top of Little Mountain.
Craft Island Trail Distance: 1.8 mi Difficulty: easy Dogs allowed This short but scenic out-and-back trail can get muddy, but the trek through the marsh features beautiful wildflowers, and the views from Craft Island can’t be beat. Make sure to check the tide charts before you go to ensure the island will be accessible.
Centennial Trail Distance: 30.5 mi Difficulty: easy Dogs allowed This paved trail established in 1989 in honor of the Washington State Centennial, follows the original route of the Seattle, Lake Shore and Eastern Railway.

Big Lake Grocery ~8 minutes from Outpost Stop at Big Lake Grocery for “Groceries, Grub and Beer.” This spot has some delicious diner food, the best local beers on tap, and many quick grocery items, so it’s the perfect stop to grab some lunch and those last minute items you may have forgotten for your escape.
Mount Vernon Red Apple Market ~16 minutes from Outpost For any extra grocery items, Mount Vernon Red Apple Market is the best last stop before heading to your cabin.

Located just over the Ohio border from Pennsylvania, your new favorite escape is just 1.5 hours from Pittsburgh and almost 2 hours from Cleveland. Just take 376 to 30 from Pittsburgh or 480 to 76 from Cleveland and you’ll be ready to disconnect.

Hellbender Bluff Trail Hike Duration: 3.4 miles Difficulty: Easy This loop trail features lots of wildlife, including bald eagles and spring warblers, as well as wild flowers and mushrooms.
Mineral Springs Loop Trail Hike Duration: 1.3 miles Difficulty: Easy This easy loop on the Pennsylvania side of the border features a waterfall and is recommended for families with young kids.
Dogwood Trail Hike Duration: 2.5 miles Difficulty: Moderate This popular loop trail, just a 10-minute drive from the Outpost, features views of beautiful forest and wild flowers.
Vondergreen Trail Hike Duration: 6.2 miles Difficulty: Moderate Just a 10-minute drive from the Outpost in Beaver Creek State Park, this out and back trail has a balance of steep inclines and rolling terrain.
Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail Hike Duration: 12.5 miles Difficulty: Hard This popular trail is ranked as difficult because of the distance, but you can always hike sections of it. The paved trail, which begins in Lisbon and ends in Washingtonville, can also be used as a bike trail.
Bradys Run Trail Hike Duration: 7.1 miles Difficulty: Hard This loop trail features steep climbs and frequent terrain changes with pretty lake views.

Walks in the Woods Near Getaway Brazos Valley
Washington on the Brazos Area Trails ~30 minutes from the Outpost Hike Distance: 2.7 miles Difficulty: Easy Featuring beautiful views of the Brazos River, a healthy population of local birds, and trailside swaths of wildflowers, this is a dog and kid friendly hike that’s good for all skill levels. As a state historical site, it’s also home to the Barrington Living History Farm and the Star of the Republic Museum.
Lone Star Hiking Trail and Little Lake Creek Trail ~40 minutes from the Outpost Hike Distance: 13.7 miles Difficulty: Hard This popular and well-maintained hiking trail loop is only ranked difficult because of the distance, as the terrain throughout is moderate, easily taken at a leisurely pace, and dog friendly. Located in Sam Houston National Park, it has plenty of seasonal creeks, bridges, and opportunities for wildlife sightings. You can also hike the shorter Little Lake Creek Trail portion, which tops off at 7 miles.

Lone Pint Brewery 507 Commerce St, Magnolia, TX 77355 ~25 minutes from the Outpost A dedication to renewable energy and distinctive tasting beers is what Lone Pint Brewery is all about. Stop by their beer garden for a bite of Texas BBQ from the Lone Pint & Reveille BBQ Food Truck and pair it with a fresh hoppy ale whose spent grain from production goes to feed local dairy cows.
Blue Bell Creamery 1101 South Blue Bell Road Brenham, Texas 77833 ~ 30 minutes from the Outpost This 115+ year old creamery named for the native Texas bluebell wildflower has humble beginnings in butter production. It’s nationally recognized for its high-quality, rich history, and high ice cream safety standards. Though they now sell in grocery stores across 22 states, they’ve kept their small town charm and customer-first attitude. Stop by for a scoop or to see some of your favorite flavors get made.
Navasota Brewing Cooperative 2736 County Rd 417, Navasota, TX 77868 ~20 minutes from the Outpost Scheduled to open a first-class brew pub to visitors in fall 2020, Navasota Brewing Company brews their beers using locally sourced ingredients reflective of community tastes. They aim to keep American craft-brewing tradition alive in central Texas.

Lake Conroe ~40 minutes from the Outpost A very popular destination for Houston locals, Lake Conroe is famous for boating and water sports. It offers 157 miles of shoreline and boasts over 20 restaurants, golf courses, excellent fishing, and a large blue heron population.
Star of the Republic Museum ~30 minutes from the Outpost Located near one of our featured hikes, the Star of the Republic Museum chronicles the ten years—from 1836 to 1846—that Texas existed as a proud but precarious separate nation from the United States. With over 10,000 square feet and 46 exhibits, the museum aims to inspire understanding and appreciation of Texas heritage. It also features an interactive activity center for children of all ages.
Barrington Living History Farm ~30 minutes from the Outpost Just a short walk away from the Star of the Republic Museum is the Barrington Living History Farm, home of the last president of Texas. The costumed staff operate the farm as if the year were 1850, complete with livestock, period appropriate living quarters, and mid-19th century farming methods and materials. Visitors are welcome to pitch in with chores on the working farm.
The Sanctuary Blueberry Farm ~40 minutes from the Outpost The Sanctuary Blueberry Farm is a family friendly pick-your-own blueberries experience renowned for big sweet berries nourished with only natural mineral-rich well water and organic fertilizers. A great day trip during blueberry season (late spring through summer).

Getting There
Nestled in the woods of Running Springs, your secluded escape is easily accessible from Los Angeles. Driving is the quickest way to travel to your Getaway—parking is easy, just pull up right beside your tiny cabin. If you don’t have any wheels, you can take a Greyhound bus to San Bernardino Depot, then hop in an Uber or Lyft for the remainder of the journey. In the winter, you may see snowfall at Getaway Big Bear; be sure to check local weather conditions and plan your safe journey to the Outpost accordingly.

Lake Gregory Trail Distance: 2.3 miles Difficulty: Easy Dogs allowed on-leash This shady loop around Lake Gregory is a favorite fishing spot and features gorgeous wild flowers and lovely scenery. There’s a small park and drinking fountain bowl for dogs.
Heaps Peak Arboretum Distance: 0.8 miles Difficulty: Easy Dogs allowed on-leash An easy walk for everyone, grab a map from the kiosk before starting the trail to read up on the types of local trees and wildlife that surround the area.
Keller Peak Distance: 12.5 miles Difficulty: Moderate Dogs allowed on-leash + horse-friendly Along the way to Keller Peak are a children’s garden and a Ranger Fire outlook at the peak for stunning views. For a shorter hike, you can drive part of the way and walk to the summit.
Arrowhead Pinacles Trail Distance: 4.6 miles Difficulty: Hard Dogs allowed on-leash Arrowhead Pinacles Trail is a steep, difficult trail that will keep you puffing. Enjoy the boulders and panoramic views throughout, especially the 360-degree lookout from the top. There’s not much shade, so get hiking later in the afternoon or in the early morning to avoid the heat.

Belgian Waffle Works ~ 15 min from Outpost Family owned and operated along the docks of Lake Arrowhead, this waffle house is open for breakfast and lunch, serving huge portions and unique waffle combinations, such as Mud-Pie, S’more, and Peanutty.
Lou Eddies Pizza ~ 10 min from Outpost Lou Eddies offers gourmet pizzas or create-your-owns inside a 100+ year-old building. The beer served at its quaint bar is home-brewed, and seating spills onto outside patios where you can eat a pie and enjoy live music.
Old Country Coffee Shop and Diner ~ 5 min from Outpost Breakfast at this cute little diner is split between American and Mexican plates, and both options are delicious. The quick, friendly service and cozy interior have made this eatery a favorite for locals and visitors alike.

We hope you think of Getaway as a day off for the always on – the perfect place to disconnect and recharge in nature. However, if you’re feeling antsy to get outside or if you want some activities for the journey from Portland, there’s plenty to explore in the area.

Getting There
Just over the border in Washington, your new favorite escape is easily accessible from Portland. Only two hours away from downtown, the fastest way there is by car. Take Highway 84 east to the Hood River Bridge (toll bridge), cross the bridge, and turn west on Highway 14. Turn north on Highway 141 toward BZ Corner. Pass BZ Glenwood Highway and continue up towards Trout Lake. As you approach the gas station, bear right onto Mount Adams Road, then take a right onto Sunnyside Road, which becomes Trout Lake Highway. Turn right onto Main Street, go through town, then take a left onto Mount Adams Highway. The Outpost entrance will be on the right. There may be some snowfall in the winter, so be sure to check local weather and plan your safe journey accordingly.
Many people pass by this quick and easy walk without even noticing it. Stop on your way to the Outpost and see a 25-foot cascading waterfall.
Weldon Wagon Road Trail
Hike distance: 5.4 miles
Difficulty: Relatively Easy
This trail starts in the Columbia River Gorge, but quickly ascends out of the gorge as you get further along. From there the trail becomes less of a trail, and more of a path through an open meadow with views of the mountaintops all around. Part of this trail also goes through the White Salmon Oak Natural Resources Conservation Area, so you can explore the area and see all the different oak trees during your hike.
Monte Cristo Trail
Distance: 3.7 miles roundtrip
Difficulty: Moderate
This out-and-back trail near Granite Falls, WA is a great one for history buffs. By following this trail, you get to follow the route that was taken by miners to get to Monte Cristo where they would mine for ore. Monte Cristo is a ghost town today, but you can head out and explore what remains.
Junction Lake via East Crater Trail
Distance: 4.9 miles
Difficulty: Easy
This out-and-back trail lets you head out to Junction Lake from east side of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Several trails intersect with East Crater Trail including the notable Pacific Crest Trail, so if you decide to explore the area a bit more, there are plenty of trails that will allow you to do so. A note to keep in mind is that the road to get to the trailhead may be closed between December 1st and April 1st.
Willard Springs Trail
Hike distance: 2 miles
Difficulty: Easy
This two-mile trail loops around the Conboy Lake Marsh is an easy hike with great views of Mount Adams. As you hike, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for signs of wildlife, as there are many kinds of wild birds often found here.
Sleeping Beauty Trail
Hike distance: 2.4 miles
Difficulty: Moderate
This is a short trail near Trout Lake, which takes you through the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. It’s great for both hiking and bird watching. Dogs are welcome on the trail, but they must be kept on a leash.
Guler Ice Cave Hike
Hike distance: 2.2 miles
Difficulty: Easy
This walk to the most visited cave features beautiful underground ice formations and tubes that are results of lava flows. Remember to bring snow gear though in the winter months, cave temperatures can drop pretty low.
Lyle Cherry Orchard
Hike distance: 5 miles
Difficulty: Moderate
Recommended for early spring, this hike features wildflowers and beautiful gorge views on both sides of the trail. While there aren’t as many cherry trees on the hike as there used to be, some can still be found on the eastern edge of the property.
Dog Mountain Loop
Hike distance: 6.9 miles
Difficulty: Hard
This hike boasts beautiful gorge views and wildflowers from April to May. The trails can be quite steep, but if you’re willing to try, the trail is relatively short for some pretty views.
Visit this store for groceries, food, beer, and wine. In the summers, check out the burgers made by the owner, and maybe even try tasting some wine.
B Z Corner Grocery Store
~33 minutes from Outpost
Visit this corner grocery for a little bit of everything, from groceries to chicken tenders. Located right near locations for whitewater rafting and kayaking, it’s a great place to pick up supplies after these activities.
Harvest Market
~48 minutes from Outpost
Harvest Market is a great staple spot to grab everything you’ll need before your Getaway. Their website also has recipe ideas and coupons you can print and bring with you, and they even have a flower ordering department—so if you’re headed to Getaway for a special occasion, you can make it extra special and celebrate with the colors that nature provides.
Backwoods Brewing Co.
~55 minutes from Outpost
About an hour’s drive from Getaway Mount Adams, you can find Backwoods Brewing Company, which is a family-owned and local-operated craft brewery. They source all of their ingredients from the North West, and their Carson, WA location is also famous for its delicious pizza.
As the longest running whitewater enterprise in Washington or Oregon, Zoller’s is the local go-to for the adventurous type. Check out one of their several options for a whitewater adventure.

Goose Lake
For a day spent near the water, you can head out to Goose Lake, which is about an hour’s drive away. This is a great spot to go for families, as you can swim and fish in the lake, which is sure to delight the little ones.
Panther Creek Falls
These falls are hidden in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest along an easy out-and-back trail down to a viewing platform. The falls are well worth the walk, which is equally as gorgeous as the falls, as it allows you to hike along the side of the creek. The trail is a little under half a mile long, and dogs can be brought onto the trail as long as they’re on a leash.
Natural Bridges
The “natural bridges” in display along this trail were created by collapsed lava tubes. This is a great trail for families and children, as it’s relatively easy, but incredibly interesting to explor—these natural formations are an exhibit of how nature carves and changes the landscapes we call home.
Columbia River Gorge
If you’re looking for some scenic views, the Columbia River Gorge boasts more than a few as the river creates a canyon as it cuts through the cascade mountains. There are many scenic lookout points and scenic byways for you to explore the canyon, view waterfalls, and spend time in nature with your loved ones.
Mount Hood Meadows
Mount Hood Meadows Ski Resort is a great day trip for skiiers and snowboarders of all skill and experience. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, this resort has terrain that will challenge and delight you with its views and the thrill of riding down to the base of Mount Hood.

Getaway Chattahoochee is our first Outpost in the South, and home to our thoughtfully designed, wifi-free cabins that can help you disconnect from your day-to-day and reconnect to who and what really matters.
What to Expect from Getaway Chattahoochee
Our Outpost is located within 2 hours of Atlanta, a drive towards the Chattahoochee National Forest, in scenic Suches, Georgia. Note that during your drive, you may experience times with no cell phone coverage so it’s always a good idea to have your directions with you in case that happens.
When you book your Getaway, you’ll receive a confirmation email with essential information. On the day of your reservation, you’ll receive a text in the morning with your cabin name, lock code number, and other helpful information to get you situated, like frequently asked questions.
Check in time is at 3PM, and you can drive straight into the Outpost. Park in the designated area and walk right up to your cabin, punch in the lock code, and your tiny cabin will be ready for you.
While every tiny cabin is private, safe, and secure, you will see other cabins while you’re at Getaway Chattahoochee.
What’s in a Tiny Cabin at Getaway Chattahoochee
Our tiny cabins come with everything you need and nothing you don’t. Picture a queen bed (or bunk queens if you chose a cabin for 4), a kitchenette with mini-fridge and 2 burner stove, a bathroom with a toilet and shower, provision and firewood for purchase, an outdoor fire pit with grilling grate, and outdoor seating. If you bring a furry friend with you, we’ll also have a bowl for them, waste bags, an outdoor lead, and some treats.
What to do at Getaway Chattahoochee
There’s no need to stress about making an agenda, consider this a trip without an itinerary. You can read a book (we have a mini-library in each cabin), take a walk, go for a hike on the nearby Appalachian Trail, cook a meal over the campfire, or simply do nothing at all. It’s your time to spend exactly how you want it. If you do find yourself a little jittery at the prospect of doing nothing, we have an activity booklet in the cabin for you to work your way through.
What to cook at Getaway Chattahoochee

Located in Roscoe, NY, Getaway Western Catskills sits only five minutes from Pepacton Reservoir, right between the Cherry Ridge Wild Forest and the Delaware Wild Forest. While there’s plenty of exploring to be done around our new Outpost, here are a few of the spots we’d recommend you check out while you’re on your Getaway.
Note that the Pepacton Reservoir is open for recreational use between Memorial Day and Columbus Day, and anyone interested in fishing and boating will need to get the proper permits, and swimming in the reservoir is not allowed.

Trout Pond and Mud Pond Loop Distance: 7.5 miles Difficulty: Moderate Dogs allowed This is a nice loop around Trout Pond with plenty of beautiful views of the area. This trail is best used between June and October.
Long Pond via Beaverkill Ridge Trail Distance: 7.2 miles Difficulty: moderate Dogs allowed This loop around Long Pond is a great spot for any botany-enthusiasts—keep your eyes on the hillsides near the trail to spot plenty of beautiful flowers.
Split Rock Lookout via Mary Smith Hill Trail (Pelnor Hollow Trail) Distance: 2.4 mi Difficulty: moderate Dogs allowed This out and back trail is a shorter option with some views of the ridge in the Delaware Wild Forest near Roscoe and Rockland.

Walks in the Woods
Wolf Creek Falls Trail Distance: 1.5 miles Difficulty: easy Dogs allowed This out-and-back trail is an easy hike featuring a waterfall, great for families and warm summer days.
Kettle River: Banning State Park to Old Dam Site Distance: 4.1 mi Difficulty: easy Dogs allowed This trail loops around along one side of Kettle River through Banning State Park, and features some interesting rock formations, the river, and a waterfall. Make sure to stop at Toby’s gas station by Banning State Park for a giant custard donut on your way back.
Trillium Trail to Quarry Loop Trail Distance: 2.7 mi Difficulty: easy Dogs allowed This is the perfect trail to explore the Quarry; take your time to enjoy the area and take in the scenic views.
Willard Munger Bike Trail Distance: 80 mi Difficulty: easy Dogs allowed This 80 mile bike trail is easily accessible from Getaway Kettle River. Head over to Rutledge Community Center near Long Lake Road to for parking.

Figueroa’s Cafe serves breakfast 7 days a week and dinner on weekends.
KJ’s Market ~21 minutes from Outpost Stop by KJ Market on your way to the Outpost to stock up on your favorite ingredients for your campfire recipes.

Robinson Park ~ 20 minutes from Outpost This park is one of our favorite spots near the Outpost with options to explore and get into nature all year. There are hiking trails to take you to waterfalls or to the shores of Kettle River, access to the whitewater paddling in Banning State Park, and Ice-Climbing and Bouldering parks. There are events at this park year round, so be sure to check out their website before you go to see what seasonal festivities you might find.
Moose Lake Brewing Co ~18 minutes from Outpost Located on the shores of Moose Lake, Moose Lake Brewing Co is one of our favorite spots for a handcrafted brew. They even have self-guided tours for you to explore their brewing history and learn more about how they make their beer.
Three Twenty Brewing Co ~40 minutes from Outpost Three Twenty Brewing Co is a great spot to enjoy an afternoon tasting local brews and playing cribbage with those who matter most.
